The Liszt Institute – Hungarian Cultural Center Bucharest presents within Bucharest Graphic Days the works of Antal Jánosi, Csaba Lestyán, Részegh Botond and Ferenc Siklódy at the exhibition 4 – graphic artists from Ciuc. Miercurea Ciuc and its surroundings determined the development and artistic fulfillment of the graphic artists presented, but they also significantly influence the development and evolution of the artistic life of this region.

Jánosi Antal (Sânmartin, 1954) graduated from the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca. In 1988 he created the graphics and painting department at the Folk Art School in Miercurea Ciuc, where he was a teacher for 30 years. „In his decorative, surrealist graphics, his specific timeless figures seem to exist metaphysically; in search of the absolute graphic space, he gets to a total graphic technique in which the point is the starting point but also the final destination. His works are often inspired by literary experiences.” (artportal)

Siklódy Ferenc (Lăzarea, 1968) graduated from the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca and is a teacher at the Nagy István Art School in Miercurea Ciuc. He is known especially as a book illustrator, the works of an excellent artist of classic duplicating graphic techniques are frequently exhibited not only in Transylvania, but almost all over the world, in individual or group exhibitions.

Lestyán Csaba (Miercurea Ciuc, 1975), after graduating from the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca he was a teacher for a short time at the Nagy István Art School, from 2005 is the graphic editor of the Székelyföld cultural magazine. His graphics are partly characterized by a kind of photo-realistic approach, on the other hand by trompe-l’oeil effects showing the virtuosity of a sure-handed operator of graphic techniques, and at the same time by a reference to the realistically detailed illustrations of the beginning of the century, but definitely by illusionistic aspects. The style of his creations includes a wide range of contemporary trends, from surrealist visions, passing through conceptual fictions and up to intellectual gags, but mostly can be characterized by a specific mixture of them.

Részegh Botond (Miercurea Ciuc, 1977) graduated from the National University of Arts in Bucharest, his teacher and mentor was the academician and graphic artist Mircia Dumitrescu. From 2011 he is the artistic director of the Új Kriterion Gallery in Miercurea Ciuc. He as an artist is represented by Yi Gallery New York. This exhibition features drawings from the cycle „Polyphony and Lust”, which talk about eros and sexuality. The cursive line, drawn with a pen in black ink, and the shapes it generates are characterized by expressiveness and delicacy. 

The artist succeeded after long searches to arrive, through abstraction, at an essentialization of the idea of union and body fusion. His compositions in which the whiteness of the paper often plays a significant role, refers to the East Asian cultural space.
